Can you use the search function of CDFrontEnd PRO to search the contents of Acrobat files, display a list of files that contain that search term, and then launch Acrobat file(s) that contain that search term.

No the CDFrontEnd search feature acts on CDFrontEnd content, not on external contents. But there is a trick for this: just create for each PDF file a small page that does link to the external files and does contain the main keywords associated to that file (title, subject, etc). This way the internal CDFrontEnd search will find that page with ease
