Topic Summary
Posted by: Ed Posted on: Apr 12th, 2004, 9:15pm
I downloaded the LITE version over the weekend and completed my first book a few hours later... very impressive!

But, I am trying to attach it to email and also download it to a disk to give out to clients for their needs.

I have sent via email to a few people and they tell me that they cannot open the attachment.  I also have handed a person my disk with the ebook in it and they say that they cannot open the disk to get to the book.

Am I missing something?  Isn't a reader sent with the exe file as an attachment and as an upload to a disk?

Can someone help me with this?

So far I am the only one in the world who can read my newly completed eBook.

Thanks,

Ed

This is a Frequently Asked Question (F1).

If you send the AEH file, the end user will need EBooksReader in order to read it ( http://www.visualvision.com/software/ebooksreader_e.html )

If you send the exe (FIle >Save as SFX .exe ebook), the end user will be able to read it, on any PC with MSWindows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and 2003 server.

Please notice that some mail filters / antivirus may delete or alter the exe file, if sent by email. Usually you put the file on your website for download...

Clarify that for me please: does your web hosting provider accepts uploading of *.exe files? I am asking because the ones I´ve used so far do not allow executables to be uploaded.

You underlined a significative point, batistajm.

In fact, some hosting services do not allow you to host .exe files, or they "cut" the download, so your users won't actually be able to download.

EBooksWriter's owners do have the special VisualVision discount on DewaHost ( http://www.dewahost.com/visualvision.html ).
They do allow .exe files.

A lot of other hosts do allow this.
