I am trying out the Lite version of EWE In attempting to import existing webpages no pages appear in the folders I open. It this a restriction with the LITE version - or am I doing something wrong?

EWE is not supposed to import Web pages. You may use copy and paste from the browser. You can use "Edit >Paste page from..." in order to import pages from other EWE files. You can use "File >Import" to import RTF and other formats. You can use SHIFT+INS to paste images from the clipboard (any format is automatically converted to JPG / GIF / WMF, it's your choice)

That seems to me to be a severe restriction. For the most part I want to use a program that will quickly modify my existing websites.

Yes, it's a limit but there is a reson for it. Most of existing webcode is not optimized and not compatible with any browser. EasyWebEditor aims to create websites that will be visible on any browser (both Mozilla, Opera, Netscape, Internet explorer) and to create fast pages. A page created with EWE is 50% to 75% smaller than the same page created with Front Page and 30% to 50% smaller than the same one created with Dreamweaver. This implies a fastest download, that's good for people with a slow line (most EU customers have a slow Internet access still). To be "compatible with any browser" implies to reach more end users.
