Hi there,
I am currently running a trial version of Easy Web Editor, I'm currently testing this package out to make sure it can do what I want it to do, but it looks very promising at the moment.
I have some ASP code that I want to use as a hit counter, it requires a another file to write too, how do I go about running this code and linking the file to the code within Easy Web Editor.
I don't need to worry about permissions for the time being, as I will test it out on a local webserver first.
Thanks in advance.

You can upload the ASP file separately on the server then use
"insert >link", 3rd tab, Add + to place a link.
In the publishing options (Options... button in the Internet FTP dialog), you might also set up what extension the program will use (.htm .html .asp etc) for example to .asp if you want to include ASP code within pages (you can do this with Insert >HTML >Within the page).

Re: running asp files
Thanks for your reply,
I have been successful with using a link to execute asp code, but still having problem with other method. I need this code to work without having to click on a link so it appears as soon as the page does.
For this to happen I need to be using the insert HTML method, I have tried clicking on Insert->HTML->WithinText then pasting my asp code into the box on the first TAB, I have been testing it with this simple code;
<%response.write ("hello")%>
click OK, Save and then clicking on Publish Browser Preview->Current Default Browser.
Nothing appears, Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
I was also under the impression that .asp code can only be run from an .asp extension file not from within .htm file? My page is being saved as an .htm file, will this be a problem?
I cannot find the option you mentioned in your last post, the option under Internet FTP, there are some options in  Publish Browser Preview->HTML, but this is for  HTML export.
Do you mind explaining a bit more please.
Once again thanks for your help.

Hi there,
I have had some success, I have exported the pages out of EWE and turned them into .asp files with a few modifications and then run them through IIS and it worked, hurrah . But what I would like to know is why did it not work by previewing within EWE, any thoughts.
I would ideally like to run from within EWE, saving me the time of cutting things up, but at the end of the day I'm happy with what ever works.
Kind Regards

There are two solution:
- the first one is to configure the Web server to enable .htm as valid file extension for ASP files. Usually only .asp is valid, but you can configure the server to enable also other file extensions (such as .htm or .html)
- set up the publishing options within EWE.
There isn't an "option" tab in the FTP publishing windows, but there is an "Options..." button on the left. If you press it, a dialog will show and you will be able to select the file extension (this will be used for all pages)
