Setting a pop-up to a link works fine!
Is it possible to have it open on the right side instead of the left side?

all the options available for a popup are listed within the dialog. It may be possible to obtain different effects by using code (Javascript) to create the popup, rather than using the internal visual features of 1SITE. You should search for this in some free javascript collection website............

I read elsewhere that some browsers block Javascript. Will keep 1S the way it is i guess...

Hi! Yes, some browsers block popups. However they usually display an alert just below the top bar such as "this site attempted to launch a popup".
Also usually the setting is just to block "automatic" popups (the one you can insert with Insert >Page functions >Open/close windows), but not link that do open a popup.
Needless to say, both features use Javascript. But usually Javascript is enabled (otherwise most Web sites become unusable, Javascript is widely used and it is not dangerous; ActiveX can be dangerous, instead... but ok this would be a long discussion)
