Topic Summary

Hi,

I am trying out the trial version of the easyweb editor and plan to buy one shortly. One question..

I would like to create an index (menu bar) on the left side quite similar to the site www.anguilla-beaches.com. I would also like to
have an image on top like the one this site has.

This template needs to repeat for all pages that I wd create.

When I used a frame for the left index, I found that it needs a separate scroll bar if the index is long. If I use tables, I dont know how to keep other pages updated when I am changing the home page index as the same index needs to repeat in the other pages as well.

How can I create a template where
1. the whole page scrolls together along with the index and top image
2. I can repeat this template to all pages
3. updating/changing the master template should automatically update all pages.

Appreciate your help. Thanks

regards,

Prithvi

There is a trick for doing this.

1) create a new page

2) put into this page the content that you would like to be replicated (e.g. a menu, a image, or so)

3) name this page (Format >Page properties)

4) go within a page where you would like this content to be replicated. If it is a left menu, within this page create say a table with 2 columns, with the left column smaller than the rightside one (put the cursor within the table, then Table >Properties). Put the cursor in to the left column, and use Insert >HTML >Within text.

5) within the HTML insertion dialog, you won't write any code or html. Simply press the button (on the right) Insert text page... then from the preview dialog, select the page you created at point (1 2 3)

Then you can repeat 4-5 for any page. You will see, within the left column a small icon. When you publish to web, this small icon is replaced with the content (the one you created at 1 2 3).

You can use this trick for many things.

By the way, if the content to be replicated is an header or a footer, just use the proper header and footer features (I say this for other users reading this - maybe they did not find the header and footer feature, that work in a similar way - but are visually displayed also in the editor)

Thanks a lot. That was quick and it works fine.

Hi, I am now facing a problem with this solution.

When I am making changes to the Left Menu Page, It works in the preview mode and shows the updated left menu on all the pages where it's included.

But it doesn't work when I publish in the internet. Only once I republish all the pages that include the left menu page, then it shows the updated menu.

Any suggestions?

Thanks & Regards

Hi! Yes, you must republish all the pages if you use this include trick.
