I spent a week updating my website and then the hard drive failed. Is there a way to download my site in a format recognizable by easywebeditor?

there is not an automatic way
you should use a backup file. You can always easily save the whole AEH site file to a USB key drive or so...
by the way you can always paste text from the browser, and save images (right click an image to save) so the content is not lost. It is just boring to redo....
