How do I add a favicon to my website with easywebeditor?

I already have the 32x32 ICO image and a jpg so either one will do.

Hi! The icon name must be favicon.ico and this file must go into the main folder of your website.

You can do the transfer with the internal Generic FTP feature (under the publish menu; it could have a preset to filter for AEH files but you can use the pull down menu to enable *.* = all files and so you can transfer anything such as favincon.ico )

Or you can use any external ftp program...

addenda: the main website folder / directory is what you usually configure as "initial remote directory" and its name is usually something like public_html (for other suggestions, see www.easywebeditor.com/ftp/ or www.1site.info/ftp/ )

for any other questions about this just ask

Hi I need some help with favicon for website browser, I understand inserting the link in the head tag, but what do I do with the actual(picture) favicon icon, where does it go? How do I add it to the website so it works after I have uploaded the changes .. Thanks in advance for any and all replies

and when I try to insert image in the actual website editor, it doesn't recognize .ico because it's not a .jpg or .gif etc..

Hi! the favicon.ico icon file has not to be inserted in EasyWebEditor.

You must put the file directly in the main web folder of your web site.

To do this you can use an external FTP program, or you can use the "Generic FTP" feature that is under the publish menu, and that permits the transfer of single files (you transfer a file "as is", for example the icon favicon.ico)

Please notice that the name favicon.ico is mandatory (will not work with another name) and it must be in the root web directory (also called initial remote directory in EWE), so that you can access it for example with www.visualvision.com/favicon.ico

You may need to actually type on Firefox
www.yourwebsitenamehere.com/favicon.ico

in order to refresh the browser and let it know you added a icon (otherwise the browser may use its last data: i.e. if no previous icon, he supposes you still no icon, and show no icon; this to save band when you are on mobile connection or so... if it asks the icon for sites that you visit very often, it would eat band that sometimes is precious)
