Title: Facebook Like Button
Post by Jo Val on Feb 8th, 2012, 5:51am
How do I install the Facebook Like button on my website, there are several different methods to insert this as per facebook instructions, and I've tried all of them but when I 'preview' my site before publishing, it doesn't appear .. or if it does, it's a world icon with a red x .. help would be appreciated. Thank You.

normally you should just use Insert >HTML >Within text to place the button where you like in the text.

it will NOT preview as it is online content generated by the facebook server, it will work only when published (if you copy and paste correctly! :) )

the facebook Like Box has three choices of inserting code
HTML5
XFBML
IFRAME

I'm not sure which to choose so I tried the IFRAME, and it doesn't seem to work .. I tried to insert in different ways but that didn't work either .. does anyone have experience with this on your own website ?

Okay well that would explain why I can't preview it before publishing it. So I'll have to publish first and then check it out, hopefully it works. I did post another message in reference to the ' Like Box ' I'm sure it's probably the same as you mentioned, but re: the
HTML5
XFBML
IFRAME
Which should I use ? do you know? Thank You! :)

Thank you. I neglected the FB button for too long, now I've got a better understanding of coding. :)

Yes this way for inserting HTML works for Instagram too, and Youtube and almost any other service that supply you a chunk of HTML to be inserted.
Usually there are some options to choose, so I don't know the particularity of Instagram and where it points, probably there is the way to point it exactly where you want...

Facebook is a great social media platform in which to promote your business to a larger audience. In order to add a like button to your website:
1.Choose the URL of the Facebook page you would like to use with a LIKE button.
2.Copy the URL into the code figuration found on this page.
3.Once you have customized your button click the Get Code button.
4.Now you have the code for a like button. Go to your website dashboard and click the Get Found (SEO) button found on the left hand side.
5.Halfway down the page will be a section named Custom <body> tracking code. Insert the first piece of code for the Facebook LIKE button here. Click the Save button.
6.Go into  Editor Mode.
7.Insert a new Code Block into the Stack where you are wanting your LIKE button to be placed.
8.Paste the LIKE button code that was generated and click Publish.
9.You now have a like button on your website.

Follow those few steps and you are good to go.
