You already know about our popular all-in-one ebook creator tool, EBooksWriter, http://www.ebookswriter.com EBooksWriter is the fastest way for creating an ebook from scratch. Not just fiction but also compact manuals, catalogs, web-like presentations.
The 2.10 includes several new benefits including direct "Edit > Paste from template" / "Copy to template" (so now using your own templates is faster); possibility to enable printing single pages when the global printing is disabled (with a special link such as "click here to print");"MassGeneration" for multiple passwords generation; several dialog improvements and last but not least CBprotect / VirtualVault "lock to PC" support for improved security.
EBooksWriter's internal security is very good, far better than the competitors, but this new "Lock to PC" security feature puts EBooksWriter in a whole new ball bark when it comes to security, so let's go with some additional information.
Right now EBooksWriter has 128 bit password protection, and the "lock to User" feature, i.e. personal passwords for different users. These features are very powerful and are usually sufficient for most users.
But we always follow your email suggestions, and we have had several requests about implementing a "Lock To PC" security feature. There is also a long thread about this on the EBW forum, http://www.ebookswriter.com/forum/
The "Lock To PC" is an additional degree of security and means that when your ebook is installed on the end user's computer, it will require a personal key that will be generated online and will work only on that customer's computer. In addition to this, if a customer ever requests a refund, the "Lock To PC" feature enables you to revoke access from that customer. With the click of a button they will no longer be able to access your ebook.
We decided not to supply this feature within the EBooksWriter package itself, because this would require complex "scripts" installed on your web server, 99.99% uptime for your server, 100% security on the server, and... last but not least, you would need to know how to do all of this and perhaps you have never installed a "script" and never want to. You are not supposed to be an expert technician... But, on the other hand, the "Lock to PC" is an effective way to stop ebook piracy.
While we were thinking about a "user friendly" way to solve this dilemma, we were contacted by CBProtect, a company that does provide a popular utility to lock software and ebooks. We investigated this option thoroughly, and were happy with this proposed solution. With a bit of work on our/their side the system could be coupled with EBooksWriter to be simple for you to implement and use. So we worked with them and we are proud to announce that Visual Vision's EBooksWriter 2.10 and the Virtual Vault from CBProtect can work together to give you the best available protection under the sun.
There are no complications and no scripts to install, as everything is managed on the CBProtect server.
You simply install an easy-to-use software application that will enable you to "wrap" your ebook inside a super-secure container (called the Virtual Vault), which will enable you to generate (and also revoke) access keys. The system automates the entire key generation process and delivers the keys to your customers automatically upon successful purchase of your product. And you can view details regarding these customers at any time using your own custom administration and stats screen.
