we found our way through this cryptic maze far enough to build the cd. The files work in the temp test install. But do not autoinstall when burned to CD-R. What am I doing wrong?

1) Is the autorun option enabled for the CD drive you used? Click on "Computer" with the right mouse button, choose "Properties", then second tab, then choose CDROM, then your CDROM, then "Properties". then second tab (settings) then "Automatic insert notify" (enable this).

2) Have you burned the files inside the root directory? A user had problems that we can't figured out, since we understood he was copying a \temp directory in the CDROM. If you created the test CD inside c:\temp, all files inside c:\temp should go in the CD root, e.g. d:\. For example c:\temp\autorun.ico will go in d:\autorun.ico

3) Have you found a faster, easier and concise way to explain how to burn an autoinstall CD with HyperPublish? It is really a simple thing, but from what you say it seems we find it difficult to explain! :-)

We are still trying to create auto install cd.
Here is what we have so far.
We have a project that has pages that link correctly, but the autoinstall is not working correctly.
It doesnt auto run (my computer is set up to autoinstall) when inserted but works ok when opened from "run" and installed to users HD.

could the problem be in the file path to the root when we build or am I burning the wrong version of the proj. after building?

heres another question
when wetting up the autorun command

what should it read if I want the cd to open up
and look back to the cd drive

autorun= cddrive ?
and do I need quotation marks surrounding the command?

The program automatically creates all files needed to have an autorun CD.
You have to do NOTHING. Please DO NOT touch the files, autorun= or so.

The CD wizard creates all needed files in a temporary directory. All is OK and ready to run. You choose the tmp dir in the PATH tab of the CD wizard. You can use for example C:\TEMP

After a "Build" within the CD wizard, the C:\TEMP will contain these files:

autorun.ico
autorun.inf
install.exe
and the <f> directory that contains other files.

simply copy all these files in the root of a CD with EasyCD or Nero and the CD will work and autoinstall.

In other words the CD after the burn will contain in its main directory
autorun.ico
autorun.inf
install.exe
and the <f> directory that contains other files.

and it will work.

To create an autoinstall CD it is very simple, the procedure works (for all the other users), so if you still can't do this you might have some problems in your system that are not of interest for the other users and that our support staff might help to solve. Or at least hope so ;)

What do I do if I don't want my disc
to auto-install, just auto-run?

If you want that a presentation / catalog is runned directly from the CD when the CD is inserted (without any install phase on the user's HDD) please choose the product "CDFrontEnd", http://www.cdfrontend.com
There is a discount for HyperPublish owners.

BTW with HyperPublish you can choose that only a part of the stuff (e.g. a cover image) will be installed on the Hard Disk, while the rest can stay on the CD. In this case, only the first time the CD is inserted the user will be prompted for installation. The next insert the user will see the presentation / manual / catalog.
